I wrote this song while living in Elwood. The song had many different versions until I finally settled on this one. Some friends have suggested a double meaning to the chorus..

She’s my angel of the night
Comes on by – makes me feel alright
Pretty angel, standing in the light

Friday night – getting ready to leave the town
This empty house I don’t want to be around
I wind my way down the road to the solace of the sea
Taking a ‘break from a break’ as my folks would say to me

I’ve got to wake up from this recurring dream
Stop watching my life slide by like a movie on a screen

She’s my angel…

Sunday morning – lying in the bed
I stayed around too long when I should have gone home instead
But there she was – I didn’t know her name
But I knew the song, a little wine and you know we’re all the same

Aah but I know I can still pretend
That this angel is my one and only friend
